Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s best-known fortified village, sits about 4 hours from Marrakech across the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Most visitors see it as a stop on a longer Sahara Desert tour, but this day trip is designed for travelers who want to see the ksar specifically without committing to a multi-day trip east.
The drive itself is part of the experience, climbing through mountain scenery before descending toward Ouarzazate and the ksar. Given the distance, this makes for a long day — if a Sahara Desert tour is also part of your plans, it’s usually more efficient to see Ait Ben Haddou along that route instead of as a separate round trip.
